Beauty and Brains: Challenging Stereotypes in Pageantry and Beyond
As a proud plus-sized pageant queen, I'm often asked why I continue to compete despite the lack of acceptance. But the truth is, I compete because I believe in the power of representation and the impact it can have on breaking down stereotypes.
I've been competing for eight years and Since then, I've had the honor of placing in the top 5 at an International Competition. This achievement is important to me, not only for personal growth but also for the doors IT can open for other plus-sized women in the pageant industry.
Crowning a plus-sized woman as National United Miss is a unique opportunity to challenge traditional beauty standards and promote a more inclusive and diverse industry. By shifting the focus from physical appearance to qualities like intelligence, personality, and community service, we can empower women of all sizes and backgrounds to embrace their unique qualities and pursue their dreams with confidence.
As someone who has experienced the barriers of the pageant industry firsthand, I'm determined to be a role model for future generations of contestants. I believe that by challenging the status quo and embracing diversity, we can make a meaningful impact not just in the pageant world, but in society as a whole.
